Corrine C., COA, Lead Ophthalmic Technician
With over 30 years of healthcare experience in eyecare, I am excited to join Dr. Caruana and the team here at Caruana Eye Care. I have had the pleasure of working with Dr. Caruana for the past 14 years. Dr. Caruana in my opinion, is the most talented and humble physician I have ever met. His compassionate approach to patient care is inspiring. Working alongside Dr. Caruana has inspired me to advance my skills over the years and he is one of the reasons I obtained my COT certification. This helps me provide better insight and care to the patients I care for.
My current role at Caruana Eye Care as lead ophthalmic technician allows me to share my knowledge with the newer generation of healthcare professionals. We continue to learn from each other on a daily basis. A few of the things I do at Caruana Eye Care include assisting Dr. Caruana with in office procedures, Biometry for cataract surgery patients, Maestro imaging of the optic nerve and the retina and of course exceptional patient care including completing prior authorizations for drops. In my free time I enjoy traveling, motorcycling and socializing with friends.
Francheska S., COA, OSC, Ophthalmic Technician
Francheska Silva is a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and Ophthalmic Medical Scribe with over four years of experience in ophthalmology, specializing in advanced diagnostic testing, surgical measurements, and pre- and post-operative care.
Her passion for eye care began at just 10 years old, when she received her first pair of glasses and became fascinated with the world of vision and eye health. Inspired by her own experience as a patient, Francheska knew early on that she wanted to help others better understand and care for their vision. In 2019, Francheska enrolled in Palm Beach State College’s Ophthalmic Medical Technology program, graduating with her Associate in Science degree in 2021.
Since then, she has gained valuable experience working alongside ophthalmologists in retina, glaucoma, and corneal specialties, excelling in fast-paced clinical environments while maintaining a calm, compassionate demeanor that helps patients feel at ease. Francheska takes pride in her ability to anticipate physician needs, maintain smooth clinic flow, and ensure accurate documentation, all while prioritizing patient comfort and education.
Known for her warm personality, professionalism, and commitment to ongoing growth, Francheska believes that exceptional care goes beyond technical skill — it’s about truly seeing the person behind each pair of eyes. Whether explaining procedures, easing patient anxieties, or simply offering a reassuring smile, she focuses on building trust and ensuring patients feel heard, respected, and cared for every step of the way. Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, she is especially passionate about helping patients feel comfortable and understood during their visit.
Francheska is also actively working toward her Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification to continue expanding her skills and provide even greater value to her patients and team.

Sarah developed a strong interest in ophthalmology through her appreciation for the eye’s complexity and the level of precision required in its care. She is committed to maintaining high standards of patient care and takes pride in creating a welcoming, supportive environment for every patient she encounters. She believes that clear communication and a compassionate approach are essential to building trust and ensuring a positive experience.

Omar V., MA, Medical Assistant
Omar is a Puerto Rican native with a deep appreciation for adventure, connection, and cultural exploration. I have a strong love for the ocean and often spend time snorkeling to observe marine life in its natural environment. Traveling is also another passion of mine; I find great joy in discovering the beauty of different places around the world. One of my dreams is to visit Japan and immerse myself in its rich history and traditions. Outgoing by nature, I thrive on exploring new experiences and learning as much as I can. I recently graduated in August of 2024 with my bachelor’s degree in health science and continue to strive for further education because I am someone who is constantly eager to expand my knowledge. I genuinely care for everyone I meet, always looking to create meaningful bonds.
I chose ophthalmology as my field of interest because it is vast and multilayered, offering endless opportunities for growth and learning. Despite ophthalmology's complexity, I am drawn to the challenge of exploring what ophthalmology has to offer. My goal is to work closely with all patients while providing exceptional care and advocacy, especially for the Latin community as we sometimes are limited to what can be done due to language barriers. I want to bridge gaps, offer translation services, and ensure that all patients feel heard and supported in their healthcare journey. Having the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Caruana has been nothing but an adventure for me as there is always something new to learn. I have learned a lot in a short period of time and I am grateful for the patience he has to educate me step by step. Dr. Caruana is always pushing me to learn new skills and grow as a person. It is the little things like this that make me enjoy what I do as well as looking forward to coming to work and having to work along such amazing coworkers.
